Ontario Flora: The Mighty Mayapple

5.00

Series of cards dedicated to celebrating and understanding some of Ontario’s incredible local plants!

5.5”x4” greeting card. Blank inside. Outside reads:

Mayapple

also known as Ground Lemon, Umbrella Plan, Raccoon Berry, American Mandrake, Duck’s Foot

"The pretty white flower of the mayapple blooms in May, but only on plants with two leaves, and nearly out of sight beneath the umbrella-like foliage. Later in the summer, a green fruit replaces the flower, becoming yellow when ripe and emitting a lush tropical scent. The mayapple plant is toxic, but small amounts of a de-seeded and fully ripe fruit are considered safe to eat. Though the animals will almost always get to it before you do!”

Designed in Canada, printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper.
